A funeral service will be held for Sylvester Tbay Daranda, age 73, of Marksville, at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in the chapel of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Marksville, Louisiana located at 334 Acton Road.
Sylvester “TBay” Daranda was born to Betty Wineburg-Daranda and Lawrence Daranda Sr. on September 7, 1950, in Marksville, Louisiana. He was the fourth child of 13 children born to this union. The angels from heaven came to take Sylvester “TBay” Daranda for eternal rest on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
He attended school at Holy Ghost Catholic School and Mary Bethune High School and moved to Texas when he came of age. He later returned to Marksville and started his job with the City of Marksville’s Street Department. He was often commended for his hard work ethic and his witty attitude. He took his job very seriously and took much pride in his work. Sylvester never met a stranger. He loved to talk and crack jokes and had many friends who looked forward to his advice and morning conversations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Lawrence Daranda Sr., brothers Louis and Brent Daranda; sister- Margaret Jordan; son- Brandon Daranda, and granddaughter- Rashika Pruitt.
Those left to cherish his memory include his high school sweetheart, Carol Williams whom he remained devoted to for 13 years until he parted this life; 4 sisters: Helen (Elbert) of California, Carolyn of Marksville, Annette (Simon) of Houston, and Ray of Marksville; 5 brothers; Ben of Arizona, Dave of Houston, Lawrence Jr. of Texas, Kennett of Lafayette, and Andrew of Lafayette; seven children: Linda (Carl) of Lafayette, La.; Syliva, Kathalyn (James), Victoria, and Prater all of Houston, Texas; Lakeshia from Bay City, Texas; and Anthony of Lake Jackson, Texas; two stepdaughters Megan (Terrol) of Slidell, La, and Erin of Marksville, La.; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, coworkers, and friends.
Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Sunday October 29, 22023, and last until time of service.
