Sylvester Jordan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Milton Funeral Home, LLC - Dade City on Mar. 20, 2026.
Sylvester Jordan, Sr., was born February 9, 1949 in Dade City, Florida to the late Wallace Jordan and the late Cora Bell Jordan. He lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, strength, and a deep love for his family. Sylvester proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After completing his military service, he built a long career working for the City of St. Petersburg, where he remained until his retirement. A man of remarkable talent and determination, Sylvester was also a former heavyweight professional boxer who ranked among the top ten in the world during his time in the sport. After his boxing career, he continued to give back by sharing his knowledge and passion as a trainer, and mentoring others in the discipline he loved. Sylvester had a vibrant personality and loved life's simple pleasures-spending time with friends at the racetrack, enjoying a good game of chance, and sharing laughs with those around him. His natural charm and love for good company made him unforgettable to those who knew him. Known for his resilience and adventurous spirit, Sylvester enjoyed spending time fishing and cherished the opportunities he had to travel with his son. In his later years, he chose to stay close to the people and places that meant the most to him. He lived with his eldest son for several years, before deciding to return home to be near his roots and family. Sylvester was one of twelve children and shared a lifelong bond with his many siblings, some of whom preceded him in transition. Sylvester passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. He is survived by his three sons; a host of grandchildren; and a large extended family, who will continue to carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind his former wife, Norvella Jordan. Sylvester will be remembered for his strength, honesty, dedication, and the love he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
