Bunker Hill:
Sylvia I. Beasley, 94, passed away at 9:02am on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on May 23, 1930, in Eldorado, Illinois, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mae (Cletcher) Grant. She married Donald L. Beasley on March 17, 1951, in Eldorado, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter: Diana Lankford of Bunker Hill, eight sons: James (Kris) Beasley of Wood River, Harry Beasley of East Alton, Roger (Frances) Beasley of Bethalto, Terry (Betty) Beasley of Wood River, Kevin Beasley of Bunker Hill, Wayne (Lori) Beasley of Wood River, Bruce (Cheryl) Beasley of Godfrey, Bryan Beasley of Bunker Hill, forty – two grandchildren, sixty – seven great grandchildren, fourteen great - great grandchildren, a son in law: John Delap of Norris City, Illinois, two sisters in law: Judy Grant of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lynnette Grant of Jerseyville, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Sylvia was employed at the State Hospital for over eight years. Following her employment at the State Hospital, she became a homemaker and she loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Elaine Delap, four grandsons, a great granddaughter, five sisters: Chloe Denny, Flo Hendrick, Helen Shelton, Kathy Douglas, Rosalie Tucker, three brothers: Harold Grant, Dale Grant, and John Grant.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 1pm until time of services at 3pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Following the services and in accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Pastor Art Hooper will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
