Norton Funeral Home of Hartsville are handling the arrangements for the Berry family.
Sylvia Brown Berry, born on June 2, 1933, in Camden, SC, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She will be fondly remembered for her remarkable talent in making custom drapery, a craft that showcased not only her artistic skills but also her dedication to enhancing the beauty of homes with her creations.
Sylvia was a devoted member of the Truelight Church in Monroe, NC, where she found community and fellowship. Her passions extended beyond her work; she cherished spending time in her garden, taking pride in her yard work, and enjoyed cooking, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She took great pleasure in canning, preserving the flavors of her harvest for her family to enjoy. In addition, Sylvia loved traveling, particularly on cruises, which added to her cherished memories.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and warmth. Sylvia is survived by her sons, Kelvin Berry (Shannon) of Bishopville and David Berry (Sue Steen) of Lakewood; her brothers, Huey Brown, Clator Brown, and Ricky Brown, all of Camden; her sister, Nina Nash of Myrtle Beach; as well as her grandchildren, Kyle Berry, Jennifer Haselden, and Kendall Berry, and great-grandchildren, Liam Haselden and Knightly Berry. Her loving pet dog, Minnie, will also miss her dearly.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Berry, Sr.; her son, Marion Berry, Jr.; her infant son; and her siblings, Loretta Newman, Lee Brown, and David Brown.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Traditions Health Hospice in Florence, SC, for their compassionate care during her illness. They would also like to thank Carol Bryant (RN), Shamriah Blyther (Caregiver), and Shajuandra Smith (CNA) for their exceptional support and care.
Visitation will be held on October 19, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Norton Funeral Home And Crematory in Hartsville, SC. A Funeral Service will follow on October 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville. Following the service, burial will be at High Hill Truelight Church Cemetery in Cassatt, SC. Mr. Stan Austin and Mr. Eric Austin will officiate the services.
