Slyvia J. Covington was born on November 11, 1941 to the union of William Singleton and Mabel (Penix) Singleton in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Edward Carter, Tyrone Singleton, Jerome Pickle and Benjamin Franklin, three sisters, Antoinette McCullen, Mary Brown and Carmen Douglas.
Sylvia was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools and was a graduate of Manual High School. After high school she enrolled in the cosmetology school and received her license. She was employed at Wonder Bread for ten years.
Sylvia was united in marriage to Sanford Covington who also preceded her in death. She was a gifted interior decorator and would decorate the homes of many of her family and friends and other people as well who loved her work. She had a wonderful eye and keen imagination for making things beautiful. She was affectionately known as Aunt CC by her nephews and nieces.
She departed this life on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Four Seasons Living Center, Sedalia, Missouri.
She leaves, two sisters, Tommie Elston and Janie Board, both of Pittsburg, KS; sister-in-law, Felece Dean, brother-in-law, Cleveland Brown, Sr., best friend, Louise Payne, three nephews, Tyrone Singleton, Jr., Cleveland Brown, Jr. and Demetrius Brown, six nieces, Shawn Singleton, Lisa Frazier, Michelle Starks, Antoniette Smith, Andrea Law and Marichia Savala other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are pending. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
