Sylvia Herlong Obituary
A graduate of Ware Shoals High School, Sylvia formerly worked at Cincinnati Milacron and retired from Fuji Film in 2017 after 18 years of service. She was a former Tupperware representative and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed growing all varieties of flowers and loved sharing vegetables from the garden with her family and friends. Sylvia's love language was gift giving so if you were fortunate enough to be loved by her then you were surely a recipient of her generous spirit. She was a member of Coronaca Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, Mitchell Davis and sister-in-law, Maxine Davis.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 33 years of the home, are two daughters, Melanie McWhorter of Sante Fe, NM and Bonnie McWhorter of Ware Shoals; her brother, Kenny Davis of Ware Shoals and sister-in-law, Kay Davis, also of Ware Shoals; grandchildren, Gabrielle "Gaby" and Niko Rael and Zane and Mia Burke; special nephews, Barry Davis (Marie) and Scott Davis (Kris) of Ware Shoals.
The family will received friends 2:00PM - 3:00PM, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Coronaca Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM, Saturday in the church sanctuary with Rev. Todd Polatty officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice House of the Piedmont for their compassionate care for Sylvia.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Barry Davis, Scott Davis, Niko Rael, Larry Barker, Brandon Barker, and Daniel Herlong.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Coronaca Baptist Church, 300 Hwy 246 N Greenwood, SC 29649 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
