Sylvia Boynton McDowell (Sam), 81, passed away on September 18, 2023, at UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas, TX. She was born on July 13, 1942, in Gatesville, TX to John Lewis and Mary Estelle (Holden) Boynton.
Sylvia grew up in Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from Poly High School in Fort Worth, TX. She worked for Alcon Laboratories as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Research and Development where she worked for 18 years. She retired in 2009.
She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her two dogs Rudy and Angel. Sylvia also enjoyed baking, puzzling, and home decorating. She loved country music and always appreciated a good laugh.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Estelle Boynton; and her son, Tracy McDowell.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Robin McDowell Philliber of Nacogdoches, TX; her sister, Pam Boynton of Fairfield Bay, AR; her grandchildren, Ragan Philliber, Taylor McDowell, and Lindsey McDowell; and her niece, Kelly Jones Scott.
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale TX. 76060 at 11:00am, October 20, 2023. Inurnment will follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
