Sylvia Evelyn Davis VanNoy Ohmer, 92, of Newport, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Washington County Home in Marietta.
She was born June 8, 1933 and was the daughter of John and Bertha Davis. Sylvia attended Newport Schools.
She worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and loved gardening,
Sylvia married Gerald VanNoy in 1950 and in later life married Charles Ohmer in 1985.
Sylvia will be deeply missed by her daughters Geraldine Bless and Terrie Wells; her stepchildren Ron and Suzanne Ohmer; her grandchildren Jasmine, Aaron, Melissa and Ashley and two step grandchildren Charles and Bobby-Jo. Also missed by her great grandchildren Hunter, Brock, Layla, Daisy, Lilly, Henry and Brode.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brothers George and Clifford; and her sisters Bessie, Ethel, Mable and Helen. Also preceding her in death were husbands Gerald VanNoy and Charles Ohmer; her son Jeffrey VanNoy and her stepson Chuck Ohmer.
There will be no public services.
