Sylvia J. Simon

Our dear mother, Sylvia J. Wells-Simon was born May 30, 1955, the daughter of the late Levy and Nita Mae Wells Sr. She sadly passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Prisma Baptist Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Sylvia attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Maywood High School in 1974. She attended Morris College and Sumter Technical College where she majored in healthcare. She was a member of Asbury UMC and worked diligently in church until her health failed.
Sylvia was the mother of three beautiful children, Argelene, Anita and Ryan. Sylvia was also a wonderful aunt to all her nieces and nephews ensuring they would have a good life by giving them her love and special attention. She was a very loving person, reaching out to all cousins and family members by calling and expressing her love for them. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Argelene Simon, one brother, Leroy Wells of Lynchburg, SC, and four sisters, Lena (Frederick) Ogunfiditimi of Washington, DC, Bessie McDonald of Mayesville, Josephine Balogun of Lynchburg, SC, and Janie Sue (Solomon) Mitchum of Maryland, a nephew, Solomon Mitchum III, and a close cousin, Rolly Wells.
To cherish her memories she leaves her daughter, Anita; son, Ryan (Monique); and two grandchildren, Kross Jovan and Hazel Argelene who she loved very much; three brothers, Charles (Evangelist Shirley) McGill of Polk, Florida, Levy (Juanita) Wells Jr. of Adelphi, MD, and Jerome (Ann) Wells of Sumter, SC; one sister, Irene (Rev. Elroy) Davis of Lynchburg, SC, an aunt, Edith Ceasar of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
