Sylvia Carter Strange

Sylvia Delores Carter, was born September 12, 1938 in Nashville,TN to the late Ms. Freddie Elizabeth Carter. She transitioned to the Kingdom on May 31, 2025. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and has been a member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) since 1957(Capers Memorial CME – Nashville TN.) She was a longtime member of Greenwood CME Church, Memphis TN.
She graduated from Pearl High in Nashville, TN, 1956. She moved with her husband and family to Memphis in 1965.
Graduated LPN from Riverside LPN program in Nashville, TN 1961, Graduated St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1972, and BSN Union University, 1994.
Mrs. Strange retired from the VA Medical Center Memphis TN after 34 years of service as the Night House Supervisor.
She was a lifetime member of the Registered Nurses Club.
Sylvia C. Strange was the proud Mother of three loving children, Deborah, Susan and Nick who provided around the clock excellent care for her from July 2024 until her transition on May 31, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John. W. Strange Sr. in 2020. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted children: Deborah (Timothy) Strange-McBride,
Dr. Susan Strange-McClora (Late Chester McClora) and John Wesley Strange, Jr.(Nick) and a host of relatives and friends.
