Mrs. Sylvia Merritt Tuttle, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC. Sylvia was born on July 17,1936, in Rural Hall, NC to the late Samuel A. and Carrie V. Merritt.
In her early married life, she was a hairdresser and worked at Western Electric. Her last job was as a cashier at Walmart on Hanes Mall Blvd. Sylvia was a member of Pinnacle United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Phillip A Tuttle; sister, Almeta Merritt Burgin; brother, Hillary "Catfish" Merritt; and nieces and nephews, Judy A. Spainhour, Phil D. Spainhour (MaryAnne), and Carolyn Mabe Pettycord.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Cindy Merritt Yeats (Richard), MaryAnne Boles Spainhour, Irma Mabe Swain (Tim), Judy Gerry Matthews (James), Donna Mabe Skarzynski (Mike), and Tim Gerry (Ruth).
Sylvia is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Sheila Spainhour Shaffer (Rick), Dean Spainhour (Wendy), Dan Spainhour, Rhonda Pettycord (Bryan), Jeff Pettycord (Phyliss), Debbie Deaton (David), Sean Skarzynski, Gwyn Skarynski Berrier, Todd Swain (Sarah), Dustin Swain, and Scott Gerry; and lifelong best friend, Joann Calloway.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinnacle United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 155, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
