T. Ruth Gross

T. Ruth Gross, 91, of Petersburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial in Jasper, Indiana.

Ruth was born to Glenn & Edith (Berry) Holman on February 2, 1935, in Knox County, Indiana. She was a 1953 graduate of Monroe City High School and married Crillis “Zombie” Gross on December 5, 1953, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his death on December 23, 2008. She was a 70 year member of Petersburg Free Methodist Church, and worked at the Pike County Auditor’s Office for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers & their wives.

Ruth is survived by: her son, Eric (Tina) Gross; brother, Barry Holman; grandchildren, Jacob (Loren) Gross & Lauren Gross (Jacob Miley); 4 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews, including her caregiving niece, Teresa Houtsch.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Don Fausnaugh. Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Petersburg Free Methodist Church.
