Talatau Ula Mulipola-Manusina

Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Talatau Ula Mulipola-Manusina was born in Tula, American Samoa, on September 10, 1944, to Mulipola Toloumu Pelesi Su’a and Fuasami Saipaia Uepa.  Eight months after she was born, her grandparents, Saipaia Misiuepa Leafuga Galumalemana of Satuimalufilufi, Samoa, and Ameteolepala Toomalatai of Tula, American Samoa; took her and raised her as their own, as Talatau was their eldest grandchild.

 

 Talatau passed away peacefully at home in Murray, Utah on February 9, 2024, with most of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren surrounding her. She married the love of her life, Reverend Taulagi Sio Manusina, of Satuimalufilufi, Samoa in June 1972.  They shared forty-five wonderful years together raising eleven children, traveling back and forth from Utah to Satuimalufilufi, Samoa. Talatau especially loved serving the Lord, raising her children and she was heavily involved in her many church callings.  She was an active member of the LMS Toefuataina denomination, both in Salt Lake City, Utah and Satuimalufilufi, Samoa.

 

Talatau was preceded in death by her biological parents (Mulipola Toloumu Pelesi Su’a & Fuasami Saipaia Uepa), and her adopted parents (Saipaia Misiuepa Leafuga Galumalemana and Ameteolepala Toomalatai; her husband, the late Reverend Taulagi Sio Manusina, her daughter Afamasaga Punipuao Manusina, her brothers Ropati Mulipola, Taimanu Misiuepa Mua’au Mulipola, Mulipola Toloumu, Jr. and Galu Toloumu. She is survived by her children, Vaeonofoaefia Lanuola Manusina, Salevalasi Vavau (Mailoa), Moeelia Manusina (Loretta), Lisa Loine Soa (Soa), Faletoese Manusina, Faipala Niu Manusina, Reverend Manusina Niko (Corinna), Taevalo Zhivago Manusina (Stephenie), Ula Manusina (Nu’uuli), and Christine Talatofi Faamausili (Ofaatu); forty eight grandchildren, more than ten great-grandchildren, her three sisters Fuasami Mulipola-Saumani, Fonofaavae Fiapa’ipa’iletufanuaimeaatamalii Mulipola-Tagoai, and Senerita Mulipola-Auvaa.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the St. Mathews Lutheran Church, 2654 Builder’s Dr, Taylorsville, Utah.    Burial to follow immediately at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
