Tama Kyung-Ja Chu, 90, of Laurel, Maryland passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025. She was born on June 5, 1935 in Manchuria, China, but grew up in Japan and has always reminisced about returning there.

She worked most of her life in the food service industry, from an Italian kitchen to a bakery. She eventually co-owned a BBQ restaurant with two close friends.

She is survived by her daughter Alice Dailey and her husband Phillip of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by her son Roderick and his wife Charlotte, and their two sons: Thomas and Paul of Eldersburg, Maryland. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Lain-Kung and her siblings back home in Japan.

A Memorial Gathering for Tama will be held at the Donaldson's Funeral Home, 313 Talbot Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707 on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 with brief remarks at 3:00PM. To plant a tree in memory of Tama Kyung-Ja Chu, please visit our floral store.
