Tamara Brekke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas Family Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Tamara Brekke, 65, of Minot, died Sunday, February 1, 2026, in a Minot hospital.

Tamara Linn Brekke was born on June 8, 1960 to parents Clayton and Amanda Marie (Volk) Brekke. She was raised and educated in Minot, where she later earned her GED.

Following high school, Tamara obtained her cosmetology license and worked for a few years doing hair and makeup. She later transitioned to a position as a babysitter and continued babysitting for around 13 years.
In 2007, Tamara began a new position as a housekeeper at the Sleep Inn in Minot. She worked there up until she became ill over the past few years.

In her free time, Tamara enjoyed crafting, painting, cross-stitching, and reading. She especially enjoyed eating in different restaurants in Minot because she likes to eat fried rice and Asian noodles. Last summer, she went with Rick and Carrie to the farm in Simcoe and collected carrots and Zucchini. She would also make pickled cucumbers in the fall and distribute them to her family members. In addition to pickles, Tammy enjoyed cooking her favorite creamy chicken ramen dishes.

Tammy was very compassionate. She would always call her family members to check in on them and visit. She loved collecting souvenirs and gifts to bring home for her family members whenever she traveled. She will be remembered most for her kindness, warmth, and the love she brought into the lives of her family. She will be deeply missed by all her family, colleagues at Sleep Inn, and friends.Tamara is survived by her brother, Rick Brekke and sister-in-law, brother Robin Brekke; nephew, Chris (Katie) Brekke; niece, Cassey Brekke; uncles, Duane, Severin, and aunts, Jeannie, Joanne, Nel Marie, Sylvia and Bonnie; along with numerous cousins.

Tamara was preceded in death by: her parents (Clayton and Amanda Marie); Step Father (Lenard), brother Ryan Brekke, and uncle David Brekke.

A memorial service will be held at the Thomas Family Funeral Home on Friday February 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at the Sleep Inn and Suites following the service.
