Tamela Bridgett Clevinger

TAMELA BRIDGETT "TAMMY" (SPARKS) CLEVINGER, 64, of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, VA, passed away November 10, 2025, at her home following a courageous battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Born in Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Estil Sparks and Lorene Shortridge Sparks. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Grundy Baptist Church. Tammy graduated from Grundy High School in 1979 and Southwest Virginia Community College in 1992. She served as a Registered Nurse for 17 years at Pikeville Medical Center where she loved assisting with deliveries and taking care of new babies, even if she didn't admit it. Tam loved to sew in her spare time, especially when making clothes for Alyka and Kinsley. Tam was a loving cherished wife, mother, aunt, cousin and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frankie and James (Dobbie) Sparks.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Wesley; son, Jason Sparks (Jessica Lester) Vansant, VA; Stepsons Ryan Clevinger of Grundy VA, Chad Clevinger (Brittany) of Grundy VA; Grandchildren: Colton, Cash, and Kinsley Clevinger; Mother-in-Law that loved her as a daughter: Mable Clevinger; Sisters: Stella (Gary) Matney of Richlands VA, Della (Buddy) Matney of Vansant VA; nephews Josh Matney, Micheal Villanti; nieces Tish Villanti, and Brittian (Michael, Damien, Quenten) Murray; Special friends (family) Stephen, Melanie, Isaac and Alyka Gooch.
Special thanks to the sisters Stella, Tootsie and Peggy for standing by us helping for so long. Thanks to Special Care Hospice and Home Health for all their care and dedication. All are such wonderful and caring people, we love all of you.
Visitation will be held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
Funeral Service for TAMELA BRIDGETT "TAMMY" (SPARKS) CLEVINGER will be conducted Friday, November 14th, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Rick Kelley and Larry David Ratliff officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
