Tammy Cason Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home - Hammond on Dec. 6, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tammy Irene Harper Cason. Tammy went to live with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 6, 2025, after a long journey with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. Through it all, Tammy remained faithful, positive and strong. Tammy would say: I have to stay strong so those around me remain strong. God gives me that strength.

Tammy was born in Hammond, La on July 5, 1961, to Shirley Perrin Harper and Henry Richard "TV" Harper. She graduated from Ponchatoula High School in 1979 where she served as a majorette. Tammy was from Ponchatoula but lived in Pumpkin Center her whole married life. She was employed at North Oaks Medical Center for 32+ years. Tammy loved music, family gatherings, the Saints, Commodores Pizza, traveling especially Florida and Nashville, and she loved being a member of the North Oaks family.

Tammy had some goals that she hoped to accomplish, but knew that some would not happen. Although she had Saints season tickets, she wanted to watch a game from a suite. On October 13, 2024, Thanks to the Polk family and Halliburton, she was able to accomplish this. Since she was a teenager, she always wanted to see Donny Osmond in concert. On July 29, 2024, she saw Donny at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Tammy always dreamed of owning a red convertible and purchased one on October 19, 2024. Tammy had a goal of spending at least one night in all 50 states. She ended up with having 11 states that she did not spend the night in. Tammy's message to all: Live your life to the fullest every day. Always tell those around you how much you love them. Don't assume that they know.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Barry Cason. No one could have ever thought that Barry would be such a wonderful, nurturing caregiver. He rarely left her side and would rarely let anyone else take care of her. Their motto was I'm Gonna Love You Through It.

Tammy is survived by son Glenn Cason, grandson Brogan Cason, son Jacob Cason, daughter-in-law Kayla Bankston Cason, daughter Britney Cason West, son-in-law Erin West, grandson Remington West, granddaughter Violet West, grandson, Fischer West , sister Jackie Richardson (Tommy), sister-in-law Carol Harper, brother Ricky Harper (Kathy), sister Melanie Monistere (Warren), sister Cherie Harper, brother Paul Harper, mother-in-law Virginia (Gena) Cason, sister-in-law Amy "Mimi" Cason Hester (Dan), brother-in-law Bobby Cason, Jr, Goddaughter Emily Harper Waugh, her North Oaks Medical Center family, her Commodores Pizza family, Tristan Cason, Rose Harper, Katie Davis, Beau Davis, as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends.

Tammy is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Perrin Harper, father Henry Richard "TV" Harper, brother Glenn Harper, brother Ronnie Harper, brother Brad Harper, niece Dawn Harper, nephew Shane Harper, greatniece Summer Kinchen, and father-in-law Bobby Cason, Sr.

Pallbearers: Wayne Richardson, Artie Richardson, David Harper, Chad Monistere, Jeff Monistere, Brandon Moskau, Chris Cason, Dale Perrin, Randy Palmer, Bobby Cason, III, Clark Hester.
