Tammy Michelle Parks, a beloved member of the Nowata community and cherished family member, passed away on September 11, 2024, in Nowata, Oklahoma. Born on February 9, 1969, in Vinita, Oklahoma to Marvin and Judy (Smith) Christian, Tammy lived a life characterized by her passionate spirit, kindness, and adventurous nature.
Tammy dedicated much of her career to the dental field, serving diligently as a dental hygiene assistant. Her passion for dentistry was evident in the care she provided to her patients. Prior to her career in dentistry, Tammy owned and operated a home daycare for five years. She was also known as a “bonus mom” to many of her daughter’s classmates.
Outside of her profession, Tammy had an abiding love for animals, especially cats and horses. Her adventurous streak was exemplified by her time as a barrel racer at rodeos, an endeavor that not only showcased her competitive spirit but also her deep connection to her roots, having grown up on a ranch.
Tammy was a genuine friend to many; she had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met. Her outgoing personality and generosity with her time were hallmarks of who she was. She never met a stranger, quickly turning encounters into lasting friendships. This warmth extended to her family, whom she loved dearly and supported unconditionally.
In addition to her career and hobbies, Tammy's spirited adventures included memorable experiences such as the time she rescued a bobcat, mistaking it for a kitten—a testament to her big heart and love for all creatures great and small.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Jerry Parks, of the home; her children, Brittany Parks and boyfriend, Brett Tyndall of Nowata, and Terrah (Troy) Owens of Claremore; her father, Marvin Christian; her brother, Nowel Christian (Tracy) of Nowata; her sister, Buffy Christian of Vinita; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Gibson, whose legacy she carried forward in her spitfire nature.
