Tana Rai Faltrino, 78, of Havre, Mt. died peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 16,2025.
Tana was born, April 20, 1947, in Havre, Montana to Louis and Leona (Huestis) Faltrino. She was raised on the family farm south of Havre. During her childhood she was a student of St. Judes Catholic School and graduated from Havre High School in 1966. After graduating she went to "Dahls House of Beauty" in Great Falls, Montana where she earned her Beauty Operator license and worked over the next 10 years beautifying the women of Havre and the Hi-line. Not to mention a few of the nuns from the Catholic church! She eventually opened her own beauty shop "Tana Rai's Beauty Salon in the College Park Plaza in 1975 where she had two other employees under her. Unfortunately, she developed an allergy to hairspray and had to retire. In the early 80's she managed two stores in the Atrium, "The Specialty Shop" and" The Collection.' She later became a sales rep. for Russ Berry, traveling all over the state.
Tana was a farm girl at heart, but she was a woman "out and about town", about fun and about style. She loved her clothes, shoes and boots! After the passing of our father in 1994, she moved in with Mom and became her full-time caregiver until Mom's passing in 2013, after which she worked at Buy-Mart. She later began to have some physical health issues where it became too hard for her to be on her feet. She then began her job at the" Call Center" in the Holiday Village Mall where she worked s comfortably seated at a chair and desk.
Tana had many lifelong passions that kept her busy and entertained, her favorite band was the Eagles, but her deepest passions were for horses, gardening, flowers and painting. Not in that particular order but loved them all equally. In her earlier years she loved going to horse shows in Billings with Dad and Mom. Dad would specifically say they are "just going to look" not buy and just going to look, magically put 4 horses on the farm-Cody, Fancy, Sonny and Desi. There was never a time when horses were not a part of the farm frontier. Tana was also a huge lover of dogs! Pekinese and Shizuo were her soft spots.
Tana had a true gift of growing gardens and flowers. Everything she planted grew beautifully, and when she entered them in the Fair, she would always have a blue ribbon on the vase. She was a gifted and avid painter and loved to get a new, fresh canvas to start another creative print or "add that extra little something" to one she claimed had been completed. It was never "one and done" with Tana Rai.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Leona Faltrino; a still born brother, Michael; and her brother Dean Dwayne Faltrino.
Tana is survived by her sister Carrie Faltrino Linie (Rick) her four nephews, Dustan and Jordan Carlson of Havre, one niece, Amanda Garrett, Oklahoma City; two great-nieces Kyla (Riley) Bushnell of Spearfish, SD, and Lucynda Carlson of Havre; and one great-nephew Jasper Carlson who is stationed in Kentucky in the army at this time; sister-in-law Terri Irwin Faltrino (Robert and Dean, Tana's long-distance nephews) of Rangely Colorado; numerous family relatives that she loved and adored; and several very special friends, Lee Gaschk, Diana Derbyshire, Carol Tonjum, Susan Brurud, Maggie Thompson and Terry Hilburn.
