Tanja Leigh Brooks

Tanja Leigh Brooks, 63, of Waterford passed away at Marietta Memorial Hospital on June 18, 2024.
She was born March 28, 1961 in Weston, WV to William and Mercedes (Banks) Self. Tanja was a 1977 graduate of Fort Frye High School and for over 15 years she operated a daycare in her home where she treated all the kids like her own. She also had worked as a bailiff for the Washington County Court and later as an In-Home Health Care Worker for RHDD. Tanja was a cheer and dance coach for many years, including with Waterford Elementary School and hosting clinics at her home. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who do anything for her family. Tanja's greatest joy in her life was being able to spend time with her kids and grandkids.
On December 14, 1980, she married David Brooks who survives with daughters Brandy Barengo of Marietta and Sarah (Andrew) Ware of Waterford. Also surviving are grandchildren Logan Brooks, Jaden Brooks, Dominick Barengo, Bailey Barengo, Josiah Ware, Joel Ware, Luke Ware and Asher Ware. Tanja's sister Debbie Cline also survives.
In addition to her parents, Tanja was preceded in death by a son Brant Brooks, a sister Michelle Self and a brother Kevin Self.
According to her wishes Tanja was an organ donor and will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
