Tanya Culliver-Whitlow

My sweet Tanya. You are in the promised place I mourn for and live for. You are sorely missed hear in this old world but I know you are praising God all the day long. Someday we will see each other again. Until then, I will help take care of your husband and daughter by keeping in touch. We love and miss you.

Rest in Peace, Tanya. It was such a pleasure to interact with you the few times that we met over Zoom, discussing our respective NACME Programs. It was great to find a UC Partner. I'm so sorry to hear that you passed. May your family find some comfort and healing in the coming days. Sending love and light.

On behalf of the Higher Education Leadership program at Sac State, we send our condolences to Tanya´s family, friends, and colleagues. Hers was a beautiful soul that touched the lives of students in so many ways to the benefit of all. We are also so blessed to have had the opportunity to work and learn with her. She will be so deeply missed!

I am so sorry for your loss. Tanya had such a beautiful soul. Praying that your hearts will be comforted knowing that she gave so much of herself to inspire, uplift and bring about a change to the UC Davis Community. She was special!

As a aunt to Tanya, my heart is heavy but I am spiritually relieved to know she got her house in order before she left this world. I will see my niece again. She no longer suffers in her body. She has a new body now and dancing in heaven. Aaron, Alex, and family, please know that we are praying for you all. God cares and He loves you. Hold on to His hand for your added strength in the days ahead. I love you and here if you need me.

An event like this reminds me of how fragile life is and to never take anything and any day for granted. I will always remember Tanya and I will always keep her in my thoughts, prayers, and heart. If it wasn't for her I would have never graduated as an engineer with my B.S in Biomedical Engineering. She has helped me cope and get through the tough times I had when I first started at UC Davis. The world has lost an amazing human being, I just wish I could have kept in touch with her after I graduated. Rest in peace Tanya. I am just really grateful to have met you in this life. You have made a big impact on this first generation college graduate's life.

My heart truly aches after hearing the passing of Tanya. Tanya is a mentor figure to me who helped me navigate college. We were really close and always chatted on new ideas I had to support students of color. She will never be forgotten and she will always be in my heart. I will cherish the compass she gifted me after graduation because as she said "you lead your own path". My condolences to her family, friends, and students. Rest easy Tanya. Tanya always made an impression on you no matter if it was the first time or 50th time you were meeting with her. That impression was always one of genuine care, love, and an honest pursuit for every student that came into her office to fulfill their dreams. Tanya helped shepherd one of the most impactful programs on campus for black and brown future engineers and poured her heart and soul into her mentees. I will always remember her legacy of being the ultimate mentor and I hope to carry it forward through the rest of my life.

Rest In Peace Tanya!! I wish I could contact you now to thank you again for all the support in so many forms you offered at times I questioned my competency at UC Davis. You were often times a light I could be comforted by when I was engulfed in darkness. May you be at rest and live on with God! I offer my deepest condolences to loved ones! You surely will be missed.

RIP Tanya! She always support me and supported BEA emotionally and financially. She was always there to vent to and was so easy going. I´m sure you are blessed where you are. Such an amazing woman gone too soon.

I wish I could thank Tanya one more time for all the positive impact she had on me during my time at UCD. I can still hear her telling me to do my best. She is a positive light that will be truly be missed. My condolences and love to the family. Thank you for everything, Tanya.

Tanya will be truly missed from so many around her because she was not your average mentor, mother, sibling, and more. She was Tanya. Every time she stepped in the room students faces lit up. She guided me through my college years and always called upon me to mentor and support students of color. She spoke such beautiful words at my graduation ceremony in June 2019 for my organization (CALESS). She gifted me a compass after my graduation and told I lead my own path. I cherish this compass and follow her words dearly. today I placed it on my altar with Flowers to cherish her. It hurts me to think of a world without her but I know she would want me to keep pushing and supporting students of color and from disadvantaged communities. Tanya, my community organizing work moving forward will have your power and energy behind it w and through. My condolences to her family and daughter. Tanya will be in my thoughts and heart forever.

Tanya will be truly missed. She was a phenomenal and wonderful person. She impacted many lives in so many positive ways, including mine. I was blessed to have met her.
