Mr. Ted Roger Stein, age 72, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Grand Rapids after a long seven year battle with cancer. He was born in Muskegon on March 25, 1951 to Robert and Marion (Glover) Stein. Ted graduated from Ravenna High School and went on to be a very successful business owner of Stein Construction and other businesses. On March 31, 1979, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Vargo. They had 44 wonderful years together. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his wife, sons, Mat and Rob (and Charlene), and his grand dog, Raven, who brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marion Stein and his sister, Debra Stein. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Stein; sons, Mat Stein and Rob (Charlene Bowen) Stein ; brothers, Robert Stein, Jerald (Linda) Stein, Edward Stein, Bill (Kathy) Stein; sisters, Cathy (Tom) Kar, Jeanie (Rodney) Knoll; and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES for Ted will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 18, 2024 at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St., Ravenna, MI 49451. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Ravenna Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Ted may be directed to American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation.
