Teddy (Ted) Gene Dotson, Sr. of Pace, Florida, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at age 79 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born July 20, 1946, in Jellico, Tennessee, to Howard and Lola Dotson. He graduated from Jellico High School in 1964, attended college, and worked a short while before joining the Navy. He was stationed at Correy Station in Pensacola when he met Judie Spears of Chumuckla, Florida, whom he jokingly referred to as "this old farm girl." They were married and moved to the U.S. Territory of Guam for a year before returning to Florida. After four years of service in the Navy, Ted earned a bachelor's degree and MBA from the University of West Florida and a master's degree in management from Troy State University. He spent more than 35 years in management and retired as General Manager of the Pace Water System in 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Judie Dotson; his sister, Marilyn Rhea (Garold); his brother, Larry Dotson (Mona); his daughter, Robin Kelly (Mike); and the two grandsons he never forgot, Jonathan Dotson and Trace Dykes, who knew him as "Grandan." Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Teddy Dotson, Jr.; and his sister, Linda Russell.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Dotson, Trace Dykes, Steve Eggart, Andy Hetzel, Garold Rhea, and Dexton Spears.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel, 4777 W Spencer Field Road, Pace, Florida 32571 with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, and Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Paul Malson of Hope Church officiating. Burial at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery will follow the service.
