Teddy Eugene Kelly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wing Mortuary - Lehi on May 12, 2025.
Teddy Ashley Eugene Kelly, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Lehi, Utah. He was 70 years old. He was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, on July 23, 1954, to Frances Wellman and Ron Kelly. He was the oldest of three children. He had the highest regard for his sister Judy and her husband Bevan. He loved spending time at their home, talking with their children and fishing in their nearby pond. He would spend hours talking on the phone with his brother Keith. Neither one of them ever wanted to hang up.
He is survived by his wife, Lynnette; his three children from his first wife (Marie Turrell), Clarissa Dingwall (Matt) of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Kaitlin Ritch of Belleville, Ontario, Canada, and Ashleigh Schubert (Ben) of Trenton, Ontario, Canada, as well as eight grandchildren. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Wellman and Ron Kelly.
Ted loved the outdoors. After graduating high school, he spent a few summers fighting fires near Pickle Lake in Ontario. They had a camp cook that made meals for the fire fighters. He would talk about how the rice was always a gluey, glutinous mess. He was never much of a fan of rice after that. Ted was involved with the Scouting program in Canada. He loved teaching the scouters about tying ropes. He knew all the best knots. His local scout group would often go to Flat Rock Campground. Ted especially liked this because of the river next to the campground. He would get up early and paddle his canoe for a couple of hours. Ted loved to fish and enjoyed tying his own flies. One of the stories he always enjoyed sharing was his Rideau Canoe Trip where he and several friends paddled canoes more than a hundred miles to Ottawa.
He especially loved camping in Algonquin Campground in Ontario with his children. His girls grew up loving to camp as much as he did. Ted loved phone calls with his girls. Clarissa would often call, and Ted was happy to talk with her and her two little ones, Angus and Maisie. He loved to hear from Kaitlin and how things were going with her job. He wanted to keep up with the busy lives of her children, Hayden, Sophie, and Pipper. Ashleigh's phone calls were sweet. Her little ones, Norah and Olivia, would show their cute faces and talk to their grandpa. He was looking forward to meeting baby Henry.
Ted also enjoyed traveling. He worked as a truck driver for several years and came close to his goal of visiting all 50 states. As a young man he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Italy Milan Mission. Ted and Lynnette enjoyed traveling together. They were able to take a trip to Italy where Ted enjoyed walking the cobblestone streets where he lived many years ago. They also made several trips to Ontario, Canada to visit family. A few of their travels included Hawaii, Oregon coast, San Francisco, Chicago, Prince Edward Island, Boston, and a Caribbean cruise.
Despite several health issues Ted maintained a positive attitude. He stayed active with many hobbies. He enjoyed building things and working with wood. He spent countless hours drawing and painting with watercolor. He tried his hand at leatherworking. He was quite the handyman and was able to fix and repair most anything.
Ted made an impact on many of us. He will be remembered because of the kindness and talents he shared. We are grateful that we could share our lives with him.
