Teddy Lee Hansford Sr

TEDDY LEE HANSFORD, 86, of St. Petersburg passed away on November 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Ted was born on June 22, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon graduating high school in 1956, he proudly joined the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. Through his military service, he learned a trade in electronics engineering and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to begin a lifelong career in the marine electronics industry. Ted enjoyed roller skating as a hobby and competed in couples dance skating and taught skating lessons in a local rink in Philadelphia. He met his wife of 60 years (Virginia) in the roller skating arena and they built a life together raising four children in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

Ted moved his family to Clearwater, Florida in 1980 to further his career in the marine electronics industry. He quickly worked his way up and proudly became the President and CEO of Si-Tex Marine Electronics Inc. Ted was an avid fisherman and boater, enjoying those hobbies alongside his children and friends. He enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in Asia, Europe and other areas on the world for both business and pleasure. Ted retired from Si-Tex in 2000 and rediscovered his love of roller skating by becoming a judge and referee for the USA Roller Sports (USARS).

Ted was preceded in death by his adored sons Teddy Lee, Jr. and Ron Hansford. He is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginny" Hansford; two daughters, Darlene Hansford and Jeanette Short; son-in law Patrick "Rick" Short; adopted daughter Tacy Sixto; grandchildren Tyler Short and Mikayla Decuir (Kale); and his cherished canine companion Haley.

Ted was the quintessential family man who provided a wonderful life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was self-less in his dedication to his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially during the holidays. We are forever grateful for the 86 precious years we were blessed to share with him. He will be deeply missed by those left behind and is now back together with his cherished sons in Heaven.
