Teena Deer

Teena Livingston Deer entered her eternal home on August 25, 2025. Teena was born in Wampee, SC on August 22, 1957 to the late Fred and Albertine Livingston. She moved to Beaufort, SC around the age of 6 and made it her forever home.

After high school, Teena went to the University of South Carolina and obtained her Fine Arts degree where she came back to Beaufort to work in her parent's craft store Colony Crafts for many years. After becoming a mother, Teena felt the call from God to invest in the lives of local children as a school teacher and went back to school at the College of Charleston to obtain her Masters in Education. She worked in the Beaufort County School system as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher for more than 20 years, at both Beaufort Elementary and Lady's Island Elementary, making a difference in the lives of countless children.

Teena's life reflected her Christian faith each and every day as she taught her children and worked alongside her other colleagues. She loved her church family, The Baptist Church of Beaufort, where she served in many different ways: serving as a Stephen Minister, singing in the choir, working with the youth and children's ministries, participating in Bible study groups, and even working as the interim church secretary.

In retirement, Teena enjoyed creating art by painting canvas and making the yearly Christmas ornaments for family members. She loved being in God's creation whether it be the marsh and beaches of the LowCountry, or the fall leaves and crisp air in the mountains of NC. And most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Teena is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill, children Lauren of Raleigh and Andrew of Beaufort, and brother Kevin Livingston and wife Kathy and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11:00am, with a visitation before at 10:00am in The Baptist Church of Beaufort.
