Teodoro Maldonado Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories on Dec. 7, 2025.
Teodoro Maldonado entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents; Fulgencio and Eulalia C. Maldonado, sister; Rosa Maldonado and brothers; Jesus Maldonado and Daniel Maldonado.

Born in 1940, in Laredo, Texas, Teodoro later made San Antonio his home after marrying the love of his life, Marie S. Maldonado. A union of 59 years built on love, devotion, faith, and unwavering commitment.

After earning his degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1976, Teodoro devoted himself to education, teaching elementary students, coaching middle school students, and guiding blind students in learning Braille. With patience, encouragement, and a coach's heart, he inspired students to believe in themselves and embrace every challenge.

Teodoro was a man of remarkable drive and resilience; a devoted provider who often worked three jobs to ensure his children received everything they needed along with the best private and public school education possible. His love was expressed through sacrifice, responsibility, and the certainty that family came first.

He lived life with passion and energy. A lifelong athlete at heart, Teodoro earned his black belt and practiced karate with discipline and pride. He was an avid sports enthusiast; whether cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys or rooting passionately for the Texas Longhorns, he never missed a game. He embraced life through country music, dancing with joy, writing songs, playing his guitar, and the quiet satisfaction of fixing what was broken.

A proud, loving, and complex man, Teodoro cherished his family above all else. He was deeply protective and endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren, showing his love quietly in ways that were sometimes subtle but profoundly felt and always with a full heart. He taught by example, guiding with wisdom, humor and a steadfast commitment to their well-being. His faith was a steady anchor, providing strength and direction through life's joys and challenges. As a devoted brother in Christ, he served his parish community at St. Leo's, finding purpose, peace, and fulfillment in God's presence, a quiet devotion that touched all who knew him. His life was marked by integrity, dedication, and a gentle strength that left a lasting imprint on his family, friends, and community.

Teodoro is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Maldonado and his four children, Sandra Maldonado Burgos-(Juan Burgos), Sylvia Estrada - (Raymond Jr Estrada), Ted Maldonado Jr - (Sandra D. Maldonado) , Melissa Martinez - (Dr Jesse Martinez) and his grandchildren, Cristian / Andrea Burgos, Raymond / Ysenia Estrada, Theo / Clarissa / Casey / Jenna Maldonado, Tobias Jr / Nico Martinez and six great grandchildren who will continue to honor his legacy in the way they live, love, and walk in faith. He is also survived by his siblings, Raul Maldonado, Blanca Maldonado Wolf, Lucia Maldonado Woodcox, Julia Maldonado Lopez, Gloria Maldonado Burnett, and Maria M. Maldonado Trevino.

Though he has departed from this world, the echo of his humor, his strength, his faith, and his unwavering spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
