Teofilo Angelo Pelli Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dobbs Funeral Home - Orlando from Oct. 20 to Oct. 21, 2023.
Teofilo Angelo Agostino Pelli, affectionately known as "Ted," passed away on October 11, 2023, leaving a legacy of service, love, and an unwavering zest for life. Ted was born on May 12, 1926, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Throughout his remarkable journey, he touched the lives of countless individuals with his infectious energy, radiant smile, and boundless passion for living.

Ted was a true American hero, proudly serving his country as a WWII veteran in the 11th Armored Division. He played a vital role in the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp, a testament to his courage and commitment to justice. His service to his nation reflected his unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.

After his military service, Ted's heart was captivated by the charming towns of Stratford, Connecticut, and Winter Garden, Florida, where he made lifelong memories and friendships. He was a beloved husband to his second wife, Barbara Pelli, and a devoted stepfather to Christopher Connors and Gregory Connors. Ted cherished his role as a father-in-law to Lisa Schuller and relished the joys of family life.

An avid lover of the great outdoors, Ted was particularly fond of fishing and golf. He passionately cheered on the New York Mets and the New York Giants, embracing the thrill of sports. He had an insatiable wanderlust and an abiding love for travel. Ted was an enormous fan of the circus, and his membership in The Circus Fans Association of America was a testament to his commitment. In 2003, he served as the proud president of the club for Father Jack Toner and Butch Landoff Tent 1024, a position he held with honor and dedication. His affiliation with the Circus Historical Society of America showcased his enduring love for this unique form of entertainment.

Ted was a man of action, always working with his hands and tending to his garden. He was fondly referred to as the "energizer bunny" by those who knew him best, and his boundless energy was infectious. With a heart full of generosity, he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, greeting them with his signature phrase, "Hi, how are you! You want a beer?" His warm smile and heart left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Ted was born to Italian immigrants who made their way through Ellis Island, and he carried the torch of their legacy with honor. He outlived his first wife, Irene, his sister, Caroline, and many other dear friends and family members. His presence in the lives of those he loved was a beacon of strength and kindness.

A memorial service to celebrate Ted's life will be held on October 26, 2023, at 5 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah, 241 North Main Street, Winter Garden, Florida 34787. He will be laid to rest at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, Connecticut, at a later date to be announced.

In the memories of those who knew him, Ted's bright, beautiful light and energy will forever shine. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his legacy lives on in the hearts of all fortunate to know him.
