Terance P. Kennedy (Terry) passed away suddenly on August 13, 2022. He was born on March 11, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA to John and Marian Kennedy. Terry was the loving husband of and best friend to Kathleen Kennedy, devoted father of Brendan, Brian (Jackie) and Steven, brother of Marian Lahner (Ted), David Kennedy and Teresa Wolfe(Merritt) and proud Poppop of Leona and Julian. He was also a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry grew up in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia and graduated from Northeast Catholic H.S. in 1972. He graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia in 1976 with a BA in Criminal Justice/Sociology. Terry attended Temple University, School of Law in the evening while working as a law clerk/paralegal for a Phila. Law firm specializing in admiralty law and he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (JD) in 1980.
Terry was always a hard worker. At 8 years old, he was working as a stocker in a local food market. During his college years, he worked as a tour narrator and apprentice river pilot for Philadelphia Harbor Tours on the Delaware River. Terry had many interesting experiences aboard the touring boats The Good Ship Lollipop and The Showboat. As an attorney, Terry worked at several private law firms in Philadelphia as a civil litigator. After leaving private practice, he worked first, for Kemper Insurance Company and then Zurich Insurance Co. staff legal services as a managing attorney. After a few years with Zurich Insurance Co., Terry became a regional managing attorney supervising many of their legal offices throughout North America.
After his retirement from Zurich in 2014, Terry continued to keep busy by volunteering his time and energy to activities and organizations that help others. He spent several days a week helping to prepare meals at Manna On Main Street, in Lansdale, PA, where he earned the unofficial title of Sous Chef Terry. He also volunteered as a poll worker in Montgomery County.
At home, Terry was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends almost as much as they enjoyed eating the food he made. Just ask any of his family members about his crab cakes. When he wasn t traveling the world with family he was an avid woodworker, with two of his most cherished pieces being two wooden clocks for his two grandchildren. He was a loyal friend and loved his family. He was adored and deeply loved in return. He will be sorely missed. His was a life well led.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Monday August 22, 2022 at 12pm at the John J. Bryers Funeral Home, 406 N Easton Rd., Willow Grove PA 19090. Visitation from 11am to 12pm.
It is requested that everyone please wear a mask.
Interment will be private.

I have very fond memories of Terence in grade school. He was a talented student that we all admired. I knew he was destined for great things. God bless him and his family.
