Terence “Terry” James Long has passed away at the age of 73. He was born in Detroit on March 19, 1950 to the late James and Eloise Long. Terry graduated from Thurston High School in 1968 and attended Oakland Community College. As the owner of AmCar in Westland, Michigan, he will always be remembered as an honest, kind and hardworking man with a huge heart who showed endless dedication to his loved ones, friends and community. His humor and wit knew no bounds and had no filter, and his passion for classic cars, motorcycles and anything fast and loud was second only to his passion for his family.
Terry was a loving husband to Kathy (Pearce) for over 51 years, an adoring father to Tera Long, Katy Long (Duane Dove) and a beloved grandfather to Donna Long. He is also survived by his sister Linda Gale (Brian), as well as sisters-in-law Jane Ann Paulger and Susan MacDonald. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends mourn Terry’s passing.
Terry’s life and career were testaments to his strength, loyalty, hard work and determination. He provided countless services to his loyal customers, many of whom became friends. He has left a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to know him.
Visitation for Terry will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. His funeral service will take place the following day, June 21, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Funeral Home.
