Teresa Ashman, 87, of Indianola, formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away
on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Westview of Indianola Care
Center.
Teresa Ann Mitrisin Ashman, daughter of George and Lucille (Lancial)
Mitrisin was born on January 15, 1938, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Teresa grew
up in Oskaloosa and was part of the 1958 Oskaloosa High School
graduating class. Upon graduation, she worked at Hy-Vee, Woolworth's,
and Pella Rollscreen. She worked for two years in California and then
moved back to Oskaloosa.
Teresa married the love of her life, Gordon Wayne Ashman, on January
11, 1964, in Unionville, Missouri. The two began their married life in
Knoxville, Iowa, and, due to Gordon's career in construction, they made
several moves before settling in Indianola in 1972, where they enjoyed
their retirement years.
Teresa found great joy in working in her yard, painting, and creating
decorations, spoiling all of her many pets, and spending time with her
family and friends. She also had fond memories of the occasional trips to
the casino with her sister in-law, Tille, and her husband Bob Current.
Those left to cherish Teresa's memory are her sisters: Lois Farmer of
Newton; Pat McMains of Pleasantville; and Marilyn Adreon of
Pleasantville; her stepson, Kevin (Gwen) Ashman of Bussey; and a step-
grandson, Logan Ashman; and her many nieces and nephews.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Norma
Adrian, Judy Wood, and Pauline McDonald, one brother, Joe Mitrisin
and her in-laws, Tillie and Bob Current.
As was her wish, Teresa's body has been cremated, and no services
are being held. In honor of Teresa, please take a moment and think
about a memory of her that makes you smile. Teresa and Gordon's
ashes will be buried at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Langkamp
Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the final
arrangements for Teresa.
