Teresa Jones Obituary

Teresa Ann Jones, 71, of Hayesville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025 at North East Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. after a month-long illness.
She was born on Nov. 24, 1953 to the late Gerald and Jean Mathis of Andrews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years Gary Jones and her daughter, Tabetha Jones Howard. She has three living brothers, Richard and wife Brenda Mathis, of Peachtree, N.C., Michael and wife, Lori Mathis, of Indiana, and Jim and wife, Diane Mathis, of Andrews, N.C. She worked more than 35 years as a devoted and talented registered emergency room nurse at various hospitals.
She is survived by her loving sons, Dustin Jones, of Charlotte, N.C., and Brett and wife, Rachel Jones, of Brasstown, N.C.; her very special grandchildren that she loved so dearly, Brooke and Kayli Howard, Tyler, Allison, Brady, Eva and Kynlee Jones along with several nieces and nephews.
Teresa was such a proud momma and mamaw. She loved all her grandkids and enjoyed all their visits. She loved cooking and baking and trying all types of new recipes. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for all her family. She was such a loving and caring individual which made her such an outstanding nurse for so long.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at Valleytown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing.
