Riemann Family Funeral Homes - GulfportTeresa Lynn Johnson Barnes, resident of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away October 22, 2025.
“TJ” was preceded in death by her mother, Waltraud “Wally” Alford, stepfather Al Alford, and father Richard Johnson.
She is survived by her partner, Ken Cunningham Sr. and his children Joshua Cunningham and daughter Niyla, Kendra Cunningham (Richard Dahl “Dink”) and baby Dahl, and Kelsey Herring (Branden) and son Waylon Herring. Additional Cunningham family members dear to TJ were the Lapniewskis, Morreales and the Grays.
In addition, TJ is survived by her brother Richard Johnson (Lynne), nieces Ashley Johnson, Amber Thomas (Chad) and great niece Tyler Thomas, uncle Tony Phyle (Patti), stepsisters Wendy Stephens (Wayne) and Kristi Goldberg (Charles) and their families.
TJ was born in Munich, Germany March 20, 1962. She spent her life in Gulfport and had a rewarding career with the State of Mississippi Child Support Enforcement Division where she made a lifetime friend in Michelle Brown Maxwell. After retiring from her work for the State, TJ worked for Caldwell Banker Alfonso Realty until her declining heath forced an early retirement.
TJ loved her friends and family and cherished her dog Sarge and bird Sonny. TJ was known for her bright and sunny outlook on life and kept that through her long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 5005 Lawson Ave. Gulfport, MS 39507, on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 9:30-10:30am. Celebration of life services will be held in the sanctuary at 10:30am.
