Obituary For Teresa Raschella

Teresa Raschella, beloved sister, mother, and nonna, died on Nov. 28, 2025, at her home in Staten Island. She was 88 years old. Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, to Vincenzo Nicoletta and Marianna Clemeno, she moved to Montreal, Canada, where she married and had two children. She later immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, where she became a resilient seamstress, pouring her heart into her work for decades while raising her family.

In 2011, she embarked on a new chapter of her life, relocating to Staten Island, where she continued to create a home filled with love and full stomachs. She was highly devoted to her family, friends, neighbors, her Italian heritage, and the Catholic faith. She found joy in sharing food with loved ones, including homemade tomato sauce, rice balls, zucchini patties, and sausages.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pasquale Raschella, as well as her sister, Caterina, and her brothers, Aldo, Ilario, and Cesare. She is survived by her brother, Antonio; her sister-in-laws, Patricia, Filomena, and Carmela; her daughter, Theresa; her son, Nick; her son-in-law, Nicola; her daughter-in-law, Kim; and her three adoring grandchildren, Nicolette, Nicholas, and Sophia. Each of their lives was profoundly touched by her wisdom and spirit, ensuring that her legacy of strength and love will live on.

Visitors are welcome to pay their respects at a Visitation on Sunday, Nov. 30, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hanley Funeral Home, located at 60 New Dorp Ln. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m., at Saint Ann Church, 101 Cromwell Ave. The burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at 361 Sharrott Ave.
