Teresa Smith Obituary
Smith, Teresa A. passed away on May 26, 2023 after a courageous battle with Myeloid Sarcoma. Teresa was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. Teresa is predeceased by her loving grandparents Bernard and Evelyn Hickey along with grandparents, Walter and Laura Smith. Teresa is survived by her parents, Duane and Kathleen Smith and her sisters Kierstin (Jeff) Luschwitz and Jeanenne (William) Hall. Teresa has several special nephews and nieces that she cherished; Brandon (Brenda) Hall, Dustin (Caitlyn) Luschwitz, Amanda (Nickolas) Collyer; Kathryn (Mont) Lynch, Kyle (Lindsay) Luschwitz, Allison Hall, Natalie Hall, and her great nieces and nephew, Jadon Starks, Anastasia Hall, Alyssa Collyer, Nickolas Collyer, Christopher Collyer, Evelyn Adams, Logan Luschwitz, Elena Adams and two special yet to be born ones. Teresa was the kind of person who if she saw someone walking along the road would pull over to see if they needed a ride or money and help them arrive at their destination. Teresa's first passion was her animals, her dog Sarah and cat, Schmee-Schmee stole her heart. Teresa rescued many animals over the years and even volunteered at Every Dogs Dream for a time. Teresa's second passion was her many nephews and nieces. They would always seek advice from their "favorite" aunt. Teresa was so loved and admired by those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Every Cat's Dream, The Broome County Humane Society or your local animal shelter.Teresa's Celebration of life will be held September 16, 2023 at 2 pm at 86 Hibbard Dr. Lisle, NY.

I am part of the Modern Languages department at SUNY Cortland where I worked with Teresa. She was a kind, cheerful, helpful person who always had a smile and time to chat with everyone. She would do whatever she could to help both students and staff and was good at her job. I know that she fought hard to maintain her upbeat attitude through her treatments. I know how much it hurts to lose someone so integral to a family; I hope that your memories of her can bring you some peace. God bless.
