Teri Ann Jones

1964 - 2025

Teri Ann Jones, 61, of Seymour, passed from this life at 6:56 a.m. Thursday December 11, 2025 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Teri was born October 26, 1964, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of David and Carolyn Schrougham Sturgill. On July 20, 2020, she married Ray Lee Jones.

Mrs. Jones worked in manufacturing much of her life. She had a knack for gardening and growing a variety of items outside. When she was inside, Teri discovered her love of baking and would come to perfect that skill, especially with sweets that her family truly enjoyed. She was also a lover of animals. This love would go beyond just a cat or a dog as Teri found it difficult to turn away a stray animal. Eventually, she would come to have chickens and ducks as members of the family too. Mrs. Jones will be remembered as a caring and kind person. She was the type of individual who would call friends and family just to make sure that they were doing okay because she cared that much about the well-being of others, especially her family. She will be deeply missed by those that loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; children, Roy (Nora) Burton, Darrik Burton, both of Columbus, Ryan (Amanda) Jones of Brownstown; mother, Carolyn Sturgill, of Columbus; grandchildren, Jacob Miller, Calvin Burton, Levi Burton, Jayden Burton, Ashlynn Moffatt, Haley Moffatt, Avery Moffatt; siblings, Tracy (John) Jones of Florida, James (Maggie) Sturgill, Dana Spears, both of Columbus; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Wesley Sturgill.

In keeping with the family's request, cremation will take place and a memorial service honoring Teri will be held Monday at 12:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Luke Maggard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Jackson County Humane Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
