Terrance Gordon Allen was born April 23, 1926, in Vale, Tennessee to Gaylon Everett Allen and Olga Electra (Lowrance) Allen.
Gordon died on Thursday, November 27, 2025, and was received in the arms of his Lord and Savior. He was a serious student of the Bible. He taught Sunday school for many years being very passionate about it.
Gordon joined the Marine Corp on September 21, 1943, to serve his country during World War II. He participated in action at Guam, Okinawa, Ryukyu Island, the occupation of China, and at Guadal Canal. He was in China for the surrender of Japanese forces. He served his time as an MP and was always proud of being a Marine. Gordon held the rank of Corporal at the time of his discharge on February 13, 1946.
On August 3, 1946, he married Katharyn Josephine Haynes. Katharyn passed away shortly after their 60th wedding anniversary on November 21, 2006. Gordon is also preceded in death by both of his daughters Nelda Tignor of Overland Park, Kansas and Deborah Elaine Schalesky of
Garden City, Kansas.
After the war, Gordon worked as an electrical engineer supervising the construction of power plants overseas. He also spent time serving as a sheriff deputy in Tennessee. Gordon was a member of the American Legion, the NRA, the Kansas Rifle Association, and the VFW Post in Tennessee. Gordon also worked as a gunsmith, and as a hobby he enjoyed leather craft.
On May 23, 2009, Pearl Wilson and Gordon Allen were married at Cornerstone Church in Garden City. They spent 16 happy wonderful years together. They did volunteer work in the community for St. Catherine hospital, Garden Valley Retirement Village and Meals on Wheels. They also enjoyed their vegetable garden every summer, always raising enough to share.
Pearl Allen of the home survives. Other survivors include his four grandchildren Sean Henderscheid of Overland Park, Kansas, Belinda (Tignor) Mullet of Lenexa, Kansas, Katharyn (Schalesky) Burgardt of Minot, North Dakota, and Dana (Schalesky) Niedens of New Braunfels, Texas; nine great-grandchildren Caitlyn (Henderscheid) Foos, Kyle Henderscheid, Heili (Burgardt) Wiley, Ashlyn Burgardt, Chloe Burgardt, Aubrey Mullet, Daniel Mullet, Timothy Niedens, and Reagan Niedens; and three Great Great Grandsons.
Gordon is also survived by three stepchildren Joe & wife Heidi Persinger, Kelly & wife Kayla Persinger, and Darla & husband Ron Leiker; five step grandchildren Nesha, Jenna, Trista, Kyle, & Kaleb; and four step great grandchildren Adah, Emersyn, Ben & Addie Grace.
A private family service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the American Legion of Garden City in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St.,
