He was born on July 21, 1948 in Wiborg, Kentucky to the late Robert Lee Mason and Inez (Duncan) Mason. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, David Lorene Mason and Michael Douglas Mason.

Surviving family include his wife, Ramona "Mona" (Jones) Mason whom he married July 1, 1972; his sons, Joey Terrell Mason (wife, Emily) and Kelly William Mason; a brother, James "Jim" Donald Mason; and sisters, Bobbie Lee Bell and Flora Rachel Dixon.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, BriAnna Sheree Kidd, Kelyn Elese Mason, Addison Jo Mason, Holden Beck Mason, Kambryn Rayne Mason; and a great-grandson, Lennox Michael Kidd.

Terry was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was well known in McCreary County for his devotion to his community. For over 50 years he was active between serving as Deputy Sheriff, Deputy Jailer, a Firefighter, and an EMT. Terry was also in support of the DARE program, helping the fight against drugs in the area. Through his service, Terry made many friends and formed several lifelong friendships that he always cherished.

When he wasn't working, you could find him fishing, hunting, or wrapped up watching any type of racing, anything that had four wheels and went fast. Terry was also an avid reader. But above all things, Terry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved nothing more than being with his grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Staley and Bro. Skip Jones officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening after 5:00 until service time at the funeral home.
