I am honored to have known you, and even from a distance, your zest for life was contagious.

Deepest condolences to the family!
I met Terrance in Northern VA several years ago. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

On behalf of the Eta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc at South Carolina State University, and fellow SCSU classmates:

Loving God,

We come before you with hearts that are heavy and broken, carrying a weight of loss that feels almost too much to bear. This family stands in the valley of deep sorrow, having said goodbye to those they loved so dearly-not once, but again and again. The absence is overwhelming, and the silence where there once was laughter and love feels unbearable.

Lord, we ask that you draw near to them now. Be their comfort when sleep won't come and the nights feel endless. Be their strength when getting through each day seems impossible. Wrap your arms around them when they feel most alone, and remind them that even in their darkest moments, they are not abandoned.

Help them to hold onto the precious memories-the moments of joy, the words of love, the shared experiences that can never be taken away. Though grief threatens to overshadow everything, let these memories become sources of light that honor the beautiful lives that were lived.

Give them permission to grieve in their own way and their own time. Let them know there is no "right" way to walk through this valley, and that it's okay to feel whatever they feel-the anger, the confusion, the profound sadness, and even the moments of unexpected peace or joy.

Surround this family with people who will simply be present-who will sit with them in silence, who will listen without judgment, who will remember their loved ones with them, and who will offer practical help in tangible ways.

And when they are ready, help them find a way forward-not forgetting, never forgetting-but learning to carry their love and their loss together, trusting that the bonds of love transcend even death itself.

Until that day when all tears are wiped away and all that has been broken is made whole again, sustain them with your unfailing love.

Amen.
