Terry Wayne Acker, a cherished husband, father, Papa, and friend, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on January 25, 1972, in Fort Gordon, Georgia, Terry was a remarkable individual whose passion for life was evident in everything he did.
As a dedicated Field Service Mechanic at JA Riggs, Terry showcased his exceptional skills as a diesel mechanic. He possessed a unique talent for fixing just about anything that came his way, earning him the respect of colleagues and friends alike. His dedication to hard work was matched only by his love for his family, as he tirelessly provided for them throughout his life.
Terry was a big kid at heart, which endeared him to those around him. He particularly adored his granddaughters, Stella, Frances, Millie, Nora, and Madeleine, cherishing every moment spent with them. In a delightful act of creativity, he once "suped up" the motors of their Power Wheels, ensuring their rides were faster and more thrilling. This gentle and playful spirit was a hallmark of Terry’s personality; he was always ready to lend a hand to those needing assistance.
His interests outside of work reflected his adventurous spirit. Terry enjoyed hunting and fishing, where he was not only successful but also skilled at crafting his own fishing lures. Together with his loving wife of 28 years, Shelley Acker, he relished camping trips, spending time in nature, and creating lasting memories. Terry also had a passion for classic cars and took great joy in raising quail.
Terry is survived by his devoted wife, Shelley Acker; sons, Luke Roberson and wife Shelby, and Tristan Acker and wife Polly; his beloved mother, Patricia "Pat" Mesa and husband Candy; father, Larry Wayne Acker; brother, Steven Wyatt Acker and wife Wendy; mother-in-law, Carolyn Forrest; and a host of family and friends who will always love and miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Chandra Acker; grandmother, Eva Keene; and uncle, Ronnie Arthur.
Terry's legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
