Terry Lee Anderson, 86, of Schoolcraft, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, with his family by his side. Terry was born on September 8, 1938, in Walkerton, Indiana, to the late Marion and Dorothy Anderson.
Terry attended Western Michigan University and earned his BS degree in Education. He played baseball for the university as a pitcher. He accepted his calling into the Michigan State Police in March of 1966 (Recruit School #62) where he served in West Branch, Ypsilanti, Lapeer, and retired as a Detective/Lieutenant from the Polygraph 5th District in Paw Paw in December 1991. Once retired, he continued his career in the polygraph field well into his 80’s.
Terry’s personal life was full of love for his family. He enjoyed working in his yard with his wife Mary (which was always meticulous) and was passionate about the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. His love of sports was passed on to his children and grandchildren. His son and grandchildren grew up playing baseball, he enjoyed endless sessions of catch with them and he was a permanent fixture sitting in the stands forever cheering them on. He never lost his sense of chasing cars and passion for driving fast.
On August 1, 1964, Terry married Mary Striber and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; daughter, Laura (Anderson) Zemek; son, Mark Anderson; grandchildren, Blake Zemek, Joshua Zemek, Mitchell Anderson, Tyler Anderson, and Kylie Anderson.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Dorothy, and sister, Joan.
