Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Jul. 15, 2024.
Terry Marie Simon Baine, 75 years old (August 7, 1948- July 12, 2024) died in her home in
Moore, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family as she entered the presence of her savior, Jesus Christ. Terry's parents, Beulah "Boots" Simon and Adolph "Si" Simon precede her in death.
Terry is survived by her husband, Thomas Edwin Baine, whom she married on January 13th, 1968, during a snowstorm; her eldest son, James F. Baine, his wife Judy, and their three children, Elisabeth, Erial, and Emaleigh; her daughter, Rachal McIntyre, and her two children, Kaitlyn and Ian; and her son Joel Baine and his wife Kathy, and their children, Dylan and his wife Christa, and Brayden; Terry's sister, Jerry Simon Gradberg, Jerry's husband, John, and their four children John Wayne, Donnie, Debbie, and David.
Terry enjoyed giving people rides to church and teaching Bible study classes.
Terry graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master's degree in social work while working and caring for her family in the 1980s. She enjoyed most of her career in healthcare, specializing in dialysis, hospice, and home health. Terry lived a life of service that continued into her retirement years. She volunteered her social work skills with several organizations. Terry provided resources to the victims of the Oklahoma City Murrah Building bombing victims. As a member of the American Red Cross, she went to New York City for two weeks to help with 9/11 survivors. She was a member of her local Kiwanis club and served as a chairman in her local chapter of Republican Women. Terry also offered her expertise to the Moore Faith Clinic, which provides free healthcare to those who cannot afford it.
Terry lived a well-played, adventurous life. She enjoyed gardening and remodeling her home. Terry took her family to Jamaica in 2007. She bought a two-story playhouse for her grandchildren, and probably for herself as well. Terry enjoyed kayaking on nearby lakes as a way to appreciate nature. She rode in a racecar with the NASCAR experience, took a hot air balloon ride, zip-lined over Niagara Falls, and took numerous trips exploring Oklahoma. This past year, she began making beautiful barn quilts. Most of all, Grandma Terry enjoyed keeping her grandchildren in her home during the summer. She was their favorite playmate. Her family enjoyed gathering monthly for Sunday meals together.
Terry has numerous friends from various activities, including Bible study groups. Terry knew her cancer diagnosis was terminal. She made sure her affairs were in order. She assured her family that her friends would step up and help her family, which they did graciously. Many maintained Terry's gardens. Several helped care for her in shifts as her health declined. Those who lived minutes away quickly came when called upon to help in any way they could. Terry's family is forever grateful for their support and the friendship they bestowed.
