The family in their grief were not able to honor Terry properly at the time of her passing, and with a special accommodation from Hartsell Funeral Home we are able to honor her now.
Terry Lynn Alexander Blackwell, age 64, left this world on October 7th, 2022. She passed peacefully at home in the arms of her husband, Charles Blackwell. Their love was so powerful that her husband Charles went to join her just two weeks after she transitioned. They were laid to eternal rest together. They had five furry children: Charlie, Bucky, Chloe, Flower, and Cosmo. Terry Lynn was the daughter of Iris Smith McCray and William Marcus Alexander, who are now both deceased.
Terry, who we affectionately called Aunt Tibby, was a small but mighty lady. A bit mischievous in her youth, she was one strong woman. She endured more in one lifetime than any one person should. She silently struggled with physical and mental health issues, but this did not stop her from pouring her heart into every person and pet she met. Her huge heart, and impenetrable strength enabled her to preserver through so much adversity in her life. She was loved and treasured for being the person she was.
She was a CNA and provided home care for the very sick and elderly. This was a career path that suited her temperament perfectly. She spent the last five years of her life tirelessly taking care of both her mother and her father.
Caring for others was her special gift. She was also a strong advocate for the Humane Society and providing love to all of those who had none. She had a lot of love to give, and she gave it freely to everyone in need. She loved to garden and learn about new flowers and her favorite way to spend time was being of service to others.
In her youth she spent a lot of time traveling with her husband Charlie on his truck route. Together they saw 48 of our 51 states!
Terry “Aunt Tibby” was a true angel on earth, an angel of compassion. She was a caregiver to so many and she was loved by ALL. Her family is eternally grateful for her life. She may have been ‘#2’ in birth order but she was always number one in our book!
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Carol Schneider; niece, Amy Campbell Pratt; nephew, Corbin Wiliam Higdon; great-nieces Mia Pratt and Evren Higdon; uncle, JW Smith; aunts, Sybil Simpson, and Barbara Whitley; first cousins, Angel, Fairy, and Danna; and many more caring cousins and spouses.
Terry and Charlie were laid to rest in eternal peace together. Soulmates now and forever. The family has planned a love gathering at the gravesite at Forest Lawn 3700 Forest Lawn, Matthews on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a tax-deductible donation to your local animal shelter or Council of Aging, the two populations that meant the most to her.
We will be forever grateful to Hartsell Funeral Home for posting this request for our dear Aunt Tibby.
