Terry Lee Donovan was called home March 18, 2023 under the care of Hospice. He was living in Clarksville, TN with his daughter Sarah and son-in-law Travis.
Terry was born December 9, 1943 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Clarence and Donna (Clark) Donovan. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles, brother Wendell, sister Jodene, and his beautiful wife of 27 years, Kathy.
Surviving are his sister Gini (Gordy) Hayward; children Sonja (Troy) Dedonado, Steven Donovan, Michelle (Rick) Bush, Sarah (Travis) Haines, and Jason Donovan; stepchildren Marc (Aimee) Fennell, Mandy Fennell, Thomas (Brittany) Fennell, Patrick (Johanna) Fennell; 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Terry graduated High school from Delton-Kellogg in 1962. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy as a Seabee from 1963 - 1965. He was honorably discharged and continued to serve his country as a Police Officer (Recruit School #82). His policing career began in Battle Creek where he was with the City Police. From there, he joined the Michigan State Police (MSP) where he had assignments in Holly, Pontiac, Manistique and Ionia, Michigan where he would retire in 1995.
Terry was quiet but also had a great sense of humor and wit. He enjoyed dog and horse races, trips to the casino and once won a trip to Las Vegas with his wife. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan. For several years, while living in Ocala, FL, he and Kathy enjoyed attending spring training in Lakeland, FL.
He was cremated at Gateway Funeral home in Clarksville, TN and he will be laid to rest at a later time in his birth state of Michigan. In lieu of flowers family is asking for donations to MSTAF by MSPTA Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund. https://unionly.io/o/mstaf/mstaf-donations
