MARK O. GUNTER
Mr. Mark Gunter of Okawville, IL departed this life in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 8:56 A.M. He had attained the age of 67 years and 27 days.
Mark was born at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL on November 21, 1956, the son of Arnold and Mary Ann (nee Schuetz)) Gunter.
Mr. Gunter was a 1974 graduate of Okawville High School. He then attended college and earned an Associate Degree. He worked as an IT Specialist for the Cahokia School District for several years until his retirement. Mark enjoyed fishing and traveling when he could. He enjoyed video games and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Cardinals.
Left to mourn his passing are four sisters, Donna Korri of San Antonio, TX, Marilyn Holle of Okawville, April Hicks and husband Brian of Hobe Sound, FL, and Marian Rabe and husband Dwight of Liberty, NC; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and one great-great niece.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gunter in infancy; his stepfather, Leroy Lehde, and a brother-in-law, Lyle Holle.
Funeral services will be held from the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11 A.M. with Rev. Bill Groennert officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery in Addieville, IL.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shop With a Cop and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
