Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and Son, Terry John Harmon passed from this mortal life on July 6, 2022. He was born on August 10, 1960 to Vanda Mitchell and Ted Harmon in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is preceded in death by his father Ted Harmon, Stepfathers Paul Christensen and Rod Lister. He was raised in Salt Lake City, Tonopah, NV, and Farmington, NM - Places he made lifelong friendships. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1978. He was studious, fun and well liked amongst his peers. Terry went on to study at Cypress College in Cypress CA where he studied Mortuary Science. He graduated in 1984 and went to work as a funeral director/embalmer. He worked in this capacity for over 40 years. He had a deep love and passion for helping others and Terry found his niche in this career helping families in their most difficult time. He owned Chapman Funeral Homes in Orange and Arcadia CA with his wife, Mary. He married the love of his life on March 1, 1996 and they were sealed for time and all eternity on January 22, 2005 in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple. Terry was known for his sense of humor, his kind and generous heart and giving soul. Terry knew no stranger. He gave to those that needed, no matter what or who it was. He showed his love by serving and helping those in need. He often gave anonymously and hoped that his kindness was paid forward. His favorite quote was "It's nice to be nice to the nice".
Terry loved his job and loved serving families. He was well respected in the Greek community in Southern CA. He loved serving this community and made many friends that he loved dearly while taking care of their loved ones who had passed away. He was an excellent planner and comforter to the families he served. He was regarded across the state for his professional and business demeanor. Which was recognized in 2008 as he received the CAFD Funeral Director of the Year Award. He took his profession seriously and wanted each service he planned to be meticulous and honorable.
He served in various church callings in the LDS church but his most favorite was when he served as the Ward Activities Chairman in the Arcadia ward. He put on the most amazing Christmas and Halloween parties. From the decorations to renting In-N-Out burger trucks, it was always an amazing time and he did it because it brought him joy seeing people happy and having a great time. He was a fun haver and a big kid at heart. He had a deep love for Christmas and found the magic in it even as an adult. He was a talented landscaper and loved to make things beautiful. He loved to travel especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii, go to Disneyland, enjoy dinner at his favorite restaurant Napa Rose, watching the Dodgers, concerts, Broadway musicals, making jokes/impersonating, and being with his beloved dogs at home.
Terry loved his family fiercely. He was protective and always wanted the very best for them. His larger than life attitude was expressed with his gifts and experiences he provided and wanted his family to enjoy life to the fullest. He adored his wife Mary, doted on his children and was the proudest papa to his grandchildren-Any opportunity he got to brag on them he took it. They were the light of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Harmon, daughters Holly (Mitch) Lybrook, Heather Harmon, Tara Green, Lacy (Jeff) Banks and son, Russell (Ashley) Springer. Grandchildren, Caleb, Aubrie, Brynley, Carly Lybrook and Breyton, Kelseigh, Addysen, Nixon, and Swayzie Banks. Mother Vanda Oldroyd, Brothers, Tim Harmon, Paul Christensen, Dan Lister, David Lister and James Lister. He leaves behind special lifelong friends, Doug and Heather McKenzie, Steven and Carol Furner, Tammy and Jeff Phillips, Paul Campos, Craig Nixon and the staff at Napa Rose. He was known as Aunt Terry to the McKenzie kids. Just another humorous inside joke because of Terry.
He also leaves behind his amazing staff that helped him and Mary over the years - Cameron Kostrikin, Aurora Taylor-Montes, Paul Nethington, Hara Alarcon, Cindy Cutler, Octavio Avalos, and Valerie Serna.
