Terry Huguelet

Terry Lynn Huguelet, age 78, of Mason, MI, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, following a sudden illness.

Terry was born on May 17, 1947, in Portland, OR, to Robert and Lona Beardsley. She lived in Oregon until age five, when her family moved to Michigan, eventually settling in Mason when she was thirteen.

On February 20, 1965, Terry married the love of her life, Bruce Huguelet, and together they shared 60 wonderful years and raised six children. Terry was cherished for her remarkable cooking and baking talents, recipes that were nearly impossible to replicate, as she rarely measured ingredients and often added her own special touches. Whatever she made, it always tasted better when it came from Mom's kitchen.

Throughout her life, Terry worked as a cook and baker for Edgewood Retirement Home in Lansing and Martha's German Bakery in Haslett. She also spent time nannying, but her most treasured role was that of a homemaker, raising her children and caring wholeheartedly for her family.

Terry's love for animals was evident, and she passed that compassion on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, porcelain dolls, and tending to her many plants. She liked to joke that she was "part crow," drawn to anything that sparkled or shined. Whether it was a pretty rock, an unusual seashell, or a bedazzled jacket, Terry always noticed the beauty in small things. She also cherished family camping trips, especially those spent at Brimley State Park.

Terry was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bruce, just six months earlier. She is survived by her children: Bruce Huguelet II, Denise (Shawn) Lafrinere, Jennifer Smith, Brett (Lacey) Huguelet, Torie Huguelet, and Julie Huguelet; grandchildren: Allison Smith (Daniel Napier), Lauren (Zach) Moehrman, Bryce Huguelet, and Kensington Mazurek; her great-grandson Brantley Moehrman, with two more great-grandsons expected soon; her sister Sandy Cady; and sister-in-law Cherie Larsen. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law Rex Huguelet, Gary Huguelet, and Daryl Larsen.

Those wishing to honor Terry's memory may donate to their local animal rescue or shelter in her name. Per her wishes, no formal service will be held. A memorial dinner will take place in the summer of 2026.
