Terry Lyons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Feb. 17, 2026.
Terry D. Lyons, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Terry was born on September 13, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James Lyons and Dorothy Stith Lyons.

Terry graduated from Butler High School. Just after high school, on the dance floor of a teen dance club, Terry met the love of his life, Norletta J. Welch. They were married and together raised two beautiful children. He was self-motivated, encouraging towards others, and took great pride in providing for his family and raising his children.

Terry was very social and outgoing, never meeting a stranger. He loved music-especially Motown-and rarely passed up an opportunity to dance. He was an avid sports fan and a loyal season ticket holder, always supporting the University of Louisville. He also enjoyed golfing as a member of the Hurstborne Country Club, and taking golfing trips to Florida. One of his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren in their athletic endeavors and celebrating their accomplishments.

In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded by his brother, Jerry. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 61 years, Norletta Lyons; his daughter, Teri Dedas (Todd); his son, Troy Lyons (Carrie); grandchildren: Dalton Dedas, Zach Dedas, Molly Lyons, Cooper Lyons, and Parker Lyons; siblings: Jimmy, Larry, and Cheri, as well as other family members and friends who will continue his legacy.

Memorial services will be private for family at Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243).
