Freida Davis Obituary
Freida Lynn O'Rear Davis, age 61, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025. Born on February 19th, 1964, in Albemarle, North Carolina, she was the youngest daughter of David Mitchell O'Rear, Sr., and Betty Myrna Stutz O'Rear.
Freida's greatest joy came from spending time with her family, whom she cherished deeply. There was not a day in the year that you could not find Freida outside. She brought life to her vegetable garden, telling the seeds she planted, "Now grow!" every spring. Freida was a true animal lover of all kinds, be it the Hummingbirds that flew to her every summer to alert her of their empty feeders or her granddaughter's Rabbit nibbling at her bedroom shoes for some extra pets, along with many other four-legged friends she cherished throughout her life. Freida found calm through various crafting projects, from quilting to lacemaking; any kind of fiber art was no match for her. Freida proved her strength and determination with every new DIY project she built, continuously showing her children that they should never be scared to try something new. Freida was an avid baker who never missed a chance to send her husband to work with a new batch of goodies for his co-workers to brag about. She had a love for the ocean and everything that it had to offer. Returning to those familiar sands when life got tough always brought her peace.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Roberson Davis, Jr.; her loving daughters, Courtney R. Davis-Lawrence of Suffolk, Virginia, and Madison Davis of La Plata, Maryland, and by her caring son, Parker Hayden Davis of Suffolk, Virginia; her eldest sister, Rosalin O'Rear; brother, David Mitchell O'Rear Jr., and second oldest sister, Marian O'Rear Ford, all of whom reside in Freida's birth state of North Carolina. Along with all her beloved grandchildren and her great-grandchild. Freida's family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of Freida's life will be held at their home in Suffolk on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, allowing friends and family to gather in her memory and honor the wonderful life she lived. The Cremation Society of Virginia, Chesapeake Office, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
Friends and family are invited to share their condolences and treasured memories of Freida online at www.vacremationsociety.com. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
