Heaven has gained another South Austin Legend

Terry Wayne Ross, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; passed away at home in his sleep on January 23, 2022. Next to him was his loving wife and best friend of 57 years, Janice Ross. T Ross was a true Austinite. Born at St. David's hospital on March 13, 1943, he graduated from William B. Travis High School in 1962 before serving 4 years in the Navy.

Terry stayed in contact with many of his old classmates at the "White Trash Tuesday" luncheons held at Cherry Creek Catfish monthly. Terry never met a stranger and was blessed with the good old boy gift of gab. His personable easy-going approach helped him throughout his successful sales career in the food industry and eventually allowed him to retire from Sysco Foods.

Terry's zest for life came through when he was with his friends and family. Whether it was at the lake house in Grave Yard Point hauling kids around on the boat, hunting with his buddies, or playing poker at the VFW, the true inspiration was the camaraderie and fellowship he shared with his cherished friends.

"Thirsty Thursday" and watching old westerns in the garage was one of Terry's favorite past times. Old friends, family, and neighbors would pop in for a firm handshake, a cold beverage, and a good conversation. After the loss of Terry and Janice's beloved son Richy Ross in 2015, many of Richy and Terry's friends continued the tradition of Thirsty Thursday where memories and reflections of Richy were shared by many.

Terry is survived by his wife Janice Ross, daughter Robin Ross Mears, son in law Gary Mears, granddaughter Morgan Flowers, grandson Ross Flowers and great-granddaughter Kacie Flowers. Preceding him was his son Richy Ross.

South Austin has lost a true icon.

One of the biggest teddy bears we´ve ever met. And his always positive energy. He always had tootsie rolls for our son whenever he was little. It was just their thing. He sure is going to be missed!
